Disable Auto Update Feature in WordPress

WordPress can automatically update your website to latest version available. This feature came after the 3.7 version update in WordPress. This is a good feature for security concerns as some users may not update their core wordpress, themes, plugins periodically. Everything has its two sides, it may also break site of some users whose active theme and plugins are not supporting that WP version. To prevent from breaking they can disable core updates, and check their site periodically for updates and manually update.

How to Disable Core WordPress Update

You can use some of the plugins available for disabling but I prefer to do by adding few lines of code below:

Add this code in wp-config.php file of your setup

define( 'WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE', false );

Stop Showing Update Notifications in WP Admin

To disable all update notifications related to theme, plugins and core add below code in functions.php file of active theme

//function to disable update notification
function amn_remove_core_updates(){
global $wp_version;return(object) array('last_checked'=> time(),'version_checked'=> $wp_version,);
}
add_filter('pre_site_transient_update_core','amn_remove_core_updates');
add_filter('pre_site_transient_update_plugins','amn_remove_core_updates');
add_filter('pre_site_transient_update_themes','amn_remove_core_updates');
